I'm still not sure whether this image looks better with or without the bubbles. I simplified the fish to make them less tonal and more flat colour. There's always room for improvement but I am pleased with how my digital illustrations are progressing :)
This year i'm going to focus on colour palette, trying different colour schemes and creating contrast with flat colour. This is my first digital image that I created on photoshop, i'm not usually very good with digital methods of working so I was pleased with how this one turned out. And of course, it had to be a mermaid because they are unashamedly my favourite thing!
Hello! This blog will be dedicated to my final year of my BA(Hons) illustration course at the Arts University of Bournemouth. My theme for this year will be ecophobia and the fear of wild nature. I am going to look into mankind's relationship with the natural world, and the nature vs nurture struggle between the impulse to control and cultivate nature, and the pleasure of beholding an unkept rugged landscape, untouched. The contrast between organised beauty, and wild beauty.
I am really looking forward to the research! Ethical naturalism, the Gaia theory, symbiotic relationships within the natural world... All of my work (as you can probably tell) is informed by the natural world and our deep rooted connection to it. The illustrations that will be posted on this blog will be everything to do with it, including some testers for use of colour and working materials. |
